Adjustable Cello Bench

This adjustable cello bench is perfect for every young and growing cellist. This bench could be made from any type of wood we have available. Some woods, like poplar, are best suited for painting while other woods like cherry will have a hand rubbed varnish finish on them.
The bench has a built in handle in the cross brace. The handle’s location makes it easy to carry because the bench will be perfectly balanced. The legs are attached to the bench with through mortise and tenon joints for durability. The adjustable legs are able to set the bench height from 11″ to 17″ in one inch increments. These heights should accommodate a child from age 4 and up. The legs have a notch to accept an endpin anchor.
This bench was designed with the assistance of Andris Koh, Cleveland Institute of Music. She was able to provide insights based upon her experiences as a cello instructor who teaches children of all ages as well as adults. Her knowledge was invaluable!
I had a wonderful time working with Bill in creating these beautifully made cello benches! I had trouble looking for a good quality cello bench with adjustable height that wasn’t too heavy in weight. Bill took all my suggestions in mind and produced the perfect cello bench that I would highly recommend to all music teachers who are looking to start young cello beginners. This bench will serve its purpose for many years before the student transitions into a regular chair.Andris Koh
